The research work of Dr. Zia ur Rehman is mainly focused on constitutive behavior of soils and its modeling. In his Ph.D., he investigated the three-dimensional constitutive behavior of the gravelly soil-structure interface and proposed a three-dimensional elastoplastic damage interface model. His work is useful for promoting the constitutive theory of dynamic interface response and soil-structure interaction analysis method. Based on his research work, he has earned the prestigious "Tsinghua University Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation" award in 2020. Main findings of his research work can be found in various top tier journals of Geotechnical Engineering (e.g., Canadian Geotechnical Journal, International Journal of Geomechanics, Computers and Geotechnics).
