My research spans the development, modification, and characterization of advanced materials, with a focus on Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), polymer composites, Density Functional Theory (DFT) simulations, and the application of Fractional Calculus. These studies have applications in biomaterials, radiation physics, and nanotechnology, addressing key challenges in fields such as orthopedic implants, radiation-modified polymers, and nanocomposites.
1. Biomaterials and Orthopedic Implants:
My work in biomaterials has focused on optimizing UHMWPE for orthopedic implants by improving its mechanical properties, durability, and biocompatibility. This has involved studying the effects of gamma and electron beam irradiation, as well as the inclusion of nanofillers such as silane and carbon nanotubes (CNTs). These modifications aim to enhance the wear resistance and performance of UHMWPE in biomedical applications, contributing to advancements in high-performance medical devices.
2. Density Functional Theory (DFT) Simulations:
I have utilized DFT (Density Functional Theory) to study the electronic, mechanical, and thermal properties of materials at the atomic scale. My DFT research has provided insights into the molecular interactions and radiation-induced modifications in polymers, particularly in UHMWPE and its composites. This theoretical work has guided the development of new materials with optimized properties for industrial and biomedical applications.
3. Radiation-Induced Modifications in Polymers:
My research also explores how radiation interacts with polymers, with a focus on UHMWPE. By using FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, and UV-Vis spectroscopy, I have investigated radiation-induced changes in materials to optimize them for use in extreme environments such as space exploration and medical settings where radiation exposure is significant.
4. Polymer Nanocomposites:
I have extensively studied polymer nanocomposites by integrating various nanoparticles to enhance the mechanical, thermal, and shielding properties of UHMWPE. This includes Monte Carlo simulations and molecular modeling to predict the behavior of nanocomposites under different conditions, with applications in neutron shielding, EMI shielding, and industrial biomaterials.
5. Fractional Calculus for Spectral Data Analysis:
My most recent work incorporates Fractional Calculus to analyze complex material behaviors that cannot be fully captured by traditional methods. Fractional derivatives have enabled me to detect weak spectral bands and uncover hidden patterns in experimental data, particularly in UHMWPE and its composites. This novel approach has allowed for more accurate analysis of radiation-induced modifications and has opened new avenues for understanding material behavior at the molecular level.
