Research Theme: Synergising Aquatic Environmental Engineering with Disaster Prevention and Risk Reduction Measures.

Research Interests:

  • Investigation of soft solutions (forests and vegetation) to mitigate the flood and tsunami energy in inland areas.
  • The combined utilisation of coastal forest, sand dunes and banks to reduce the impact of tsunamis.
  • The role of single- and double-layer vegetation in protecting houses during floods is significant.
  • Analysis of secondary disasters caused by driftwood, as well as the development of response strategies.
  • Investigating the scour behaviour by changing the position and angle of the riparian vegetation patch along the dike.
  • Effect of large floating debris during floods on scouring.
  • Clarification of the connection between flood characteristics and vegetational dynamics in midstream areas, as well as the recommendation of strategies for managing and maintaining rivers and their vegetation based on the findings.
  • Investigation of tree parameters, including arrangement, density, diameter and crown part in variation of flow structure.
